Ray Emery fights teams massage therapist

"Ray Emery has appeared in Russias Continental Hockey League (KHL). The fiery former Ottawa Senators goaltender is seen in a physical altercation beside the players bench with his teams massage therapist. The man attempts to put a baseball cap on Emerys head and Emery responds by punching him and chasing him down a hall before Emery is restrained.

It was not immediately apparent when the incident occurred. Emery and his Atlant Mytishchi team were defeated 5-1 by Yaroslavl Lokomotiv Wednesday.

Emery surrendered all five goals and was replaced by goaltender Vitaly Kolesnik before the third period."

Sie: Was? Eishockey-WM?

The Red Wings have called a news conference for 2 p.m. today to announce a 12-year, $72-million extension for Henrik Zetterberg.

Wings general manager Ken Holland has had intense talks over the past week with Marc Levine, the agent for Zetterberg, and the sides have reached an agreement that is expected to will keep Zetterberg in Detroit until he’s 40.

— Helene St. James, Detroit Free Press

Mike Richards
Philadelphia Flyers
12 Jahre (2008 - 2020, Richards ist dann 35 Jahr alt)
68,4 Millionen US-Dollar

Vincent Lecavalier

Tampa Bay Lightning
11 Jahre (2008 - 2019, Lecavalier ist dann 39 Jahre alt)
85 Millionen US-Dollar

Rick DiPietro
New York Islanders
15 Jahre (2006 - 2021, DiPietro ist dan 40 Jahre alt)
67,5 Millionen US-Dollar

---

Lemieux has won four Stanley Cup rings and a Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 17 NHL seasons. San Jose Sharks Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Wilson, who recalled Lemieux from the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Worcester Monday, hopes the 43-year-old right wing can make it five.

"A lot of folks talk about the game not being as physical, but I think it's even more physical than it was back in the day. There's less holding, no grabbing, less stick infractions and no interference so players have a wide open lane for physical contact. I felt the game was very physical on the AHL level and from what I've watched in the NHL, it's very physical. That's always been a big part of my game, so I think it'll be just fine."

Kleine Eisfelder in Schweden?

"First, I think the trend is pointing down, I think audiences think that Elitserien is boring. The fans want to see hockey that’s exciting, with scoring opportunities, checking, and a faster pace. Of course, nobody wants to take out the good elements in Swedish hockey – the skating, the passing game – but in a smaller rink we would get a faster pace. I think that’s what hockey fans want to have, and I hear these voices everywhere I go." (Swedish SVT’s hockey expert Niklas Wikegård, former coach of Djurgården Stockholm and other teams in the Swedish elite league)

Interessante Idee.

NHL Entry Draft, Hedman, Tavares

"I accept the ruling from the league," Ruutu said after hearing the news. "I feel that (Peters) put his glove in my mouth with intentions to injure me. There was no intent to hurt him, just to get his thumb out of my mouth."

---

Facing several different media inquiries, Ruutu repeatedly proclaimed his innocence against the overwhelming video evidence.
“I didn’t bite him,” Ruutu said. “He had his glove in my mouth but I didn’t bite him.”
Pressed again outside the Senators’ room about the replay and Peters’ contention, Ruutu calmly repeated himself by emphasizing every word: “I did not bite him.”

Ottawa coach Craig Hartsburg downplayed it, too.
“[Peters] rubbed his hand in Ruutu’s face about three times,” Hartsburg said. “So I don’t know what the big deal is.”

Alexander Semin, Sidney Crosby - Fighting Fail

Fights aus der untersten Schublade.

Crosby vs. McLean
------------------------

McLean, who was clearly surprised when Crosby came up swinging, said he missed the invitation.

"He said something before the drop but I really didn't pick up on it. So, I kind of wish I had now," McLean said. "Like I said, everyone can understand what he was trying to do for his team. He's their leader, their captain."

He acknowledged it was not exactly a clash of the titans.

"I've been in a few pretty poor fights in my day," McLean said, "so that just goes into another one of those."

Crosby said he was confused when McLean turtled.

"I asked him to go, and he said yes. And usually, yes means yes," Crosby said. "I mean, I wouldn't have wasted 20 minutes in the box for that. I guess he didn't take me serious. I don't know, it wasn't worth 20 minutes, though, that's for sure."

Panthers defenceman Nick Boynton agreed with that sentiment.

"That was just embarrassing," Boynton said. "I can understand a little bit what he was trying to do, but that's a not a very professional move..

"That's pretty immature and childish."

Noch besser: Alexander Semin vs. Marc Staal
--------------------------------------------------------

Semin ended up on top of Staal and finished the melee with a series of overhand slaps, as though he was playing the bongos. The broadcasters and his teammates had some fun at Semin's expense after the exchange.

"I've seen him fight once before (in practice), but I've never seen him drum-roll a guy," Mike Green told the Washington Post. "He did well."

Rangers enforcer Colton Orr summed it up for the Bergen Record with a one-word review.

"Inexperience."
