the D is the best what finland can call up. no nummelin, but WTF, we need NHLers we got NHLers.
the F is just pure legend, allmost a legend-team. old, but all of this old dudes have one last great tournament left. awesome to see koivu, lehtinen and peltonen skate togheter for a last time, 15 years after the wc in sweden. pure aweseomness. plus selänne, both ruutus and immonen and kapanen we have a very competitive roster. please no injuries till vancouver.

Canada beats Finnland 3-0 in WHJC exhibition
solid win by Team Canada.
http://watch.tsn.ca/international-hockey/clip249201#clip249201
(why is Hall attacking the ref? twice? and not getting suspended?)
Scoring
13.23 1-0 Alex Pietrangelo (Jordan Eberle, Brayden Schenn)
02.03 2-0 Taylor Hall (Brandon Kozun, Marco Scandella)
14.51 3-0 Brandon McMillan (Jordan Eberle)
Goalies
Martin Jones 6+5+6=17
Joni Ortio 10+4+7=21
Awesome Team Canada as I mentioned before.
But not too bad from Finnland somehow, considering home ice for Canada and the smaller rinks.
in their first exhibition, Canada beat Sweden 6-2.

FINLAND BEATS SWEDEN IN SHOOTOUT TO WIN CHANNEL ONE CUP
http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=303091
"It was very important for us to win this tournament," Finland coach Jukka Jalonen said. "We also watched our best players."
ready or not, here we come
btw1: comment of the week below this article on tsn.ca from a fan from team canada:
"I don't think it is very fair thet other teams have their rosters playing tournaments before the Olympics starts"
you know what: get on with it!
btw2: possible Finnland roster for Vancouver (as seen in a Finnish newspaper):
Forwards:
Valtteri Filppula - Mikko Koivu - Tuomo Ruutu
Jere Lehtinen - Saku Koivu - Teemu Selänne
Jussi Jokinen - Olli Jokinen - Niklas Hagman
Ville Peltonen - Niko Kapanen - Antti Miettinen
13. hyökkääjä: Jarkko Ruutu
Defenders:
Sami Salo - Joni Pitkänen
Toni Lydman - Kimmo Timonen
Lasse Kukkonen - Sami Lepistö
7. puolustaja: Ossi Väänänen
Goaltenders:
Miikka Kiprusoff, Niklas Bäckström, Antero Niittymäki
I hope Jalonen will not go like this (btw. Jalonen got his contract extended, good news IMO).
I`d vote heavily against Ruutu as extra skater! Make Peltonen the 13th guy. Not Jakke. What the fuck.
(btw: in a vote in the newspaper, 61 % voted for Pyörälä to stay home. N. Kapanen, Ruutu an Peltonen only got 9 % -16 % of the anti-votes.)
And add Nummelin instead of Lydman or Väänänen. Nevermind if he`s missing now because of injury. He`s our most dangerous d-man. Best shot from the blueline and awesome in shootouts (6/7 in the 06/07 season in the nhl).
And by the way, who or what is "Kiprusoff"?

Rask
Tuukka Rask has a higher save percentage and lower goals-against average than any of his fellow countrymen, which, of course, makes you wonder if he's a legitimate candidate to represent Finland in the Olympics?
Rask was not at Finland's orientation camp this past August in Vierumaki, so he's not so sure.
"No, I just go day by day," Rask said. "Going into the season (making the Olympics) wasn't my goal, but I have played good now so we'll see what happens. You never know. It'd be great to go there, but if not I get the days off.
"I'm not disappointed if I'm not there, but of course I do the best I can to make the team."
Rask doesn't buy into the notion that there is a competition among the Finnish candidates currently in the NHL, including himself, Miikka Kiprusoff, Pekka Rinne, Niklas Backstrom, Vesa Toskala, Antero Nittymaki and Antti Niemi. Kari Lehtonen has not played yet.
"I know Toskala and I know Rinne and Kipper a little bit, and it's fun to see guys from your home country doing well in the NHL," he said. "It's been the past few years now with Finnish goalies stepping up. It's fun to follow and it's fun to play against these guys."
It would be more fun to beat out some of them for a spot on the Olympic roster.
"No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3, it doesn't matter," Rask said. "It's the Olympics and to be part of your home country at the Olympics, be part of that circus, would be a great experience. I'm young, so maybe someday."
A huge difference to Kipper.

Fetisov - the old man and the ice
This is the most ridiculous story of the passing decade. Vyacheslav Fetisov, 51, returns to ice. Not, not in a legend-match. He will play for CSKA Moscow in a regular season game in the KHL. He also is the president of CSKA Moscow.
They must have a lousy junior team / farm team in Moscow, thats for sure.
